National convention of wedding & event planners held in J&K’s Srinagar

Kashmir Hosts First National Wedding and Event Planners Convention
Srinagar lit up with creativity and celebration as the first-ever national convention for wedding and event planners wrapped up on Sunday. Held in the stunning city of Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar, this two-day event marked a big win for the valley’s growing event industry.
Organized by ICEI International Events under the theme ‘Hindustan 2025’, the convention took place at the iconic Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC). It brought together top professionals from across India to share ideas and showcase the latest trends in wedding planning and event management.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah kicked off the event with great enthusiasm. The first day buzzed with in-depth sessions on industry tips, followed by a dazzling wedding showcase. Experts displayed fresh concepts, from dreamy setups to innovative decor, highlighting how Kashmir’s natural beauty can make any event unforgettable.
On day two, the convention ended on a high note with a closing ceremony led by Farooq Abdullah, President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference. Delegates dove into professional insights while soaking in Kashmir’s rich culture—think scenic stays in Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam.
President Rituraj Khanna led the proceedings, with Gunjan Singhal as Chairperson and Irshad Hazari as Convention Director. Hazari, from Euphoria Travel Services, made sure everything ran smoothly, creating lasting memories for everyone involved.
This gathering not only boosted networking but also put Kashmir on the map as a top destination for weddings and events. With its breathtaking valleys and meadows, places like Pahalgam and Gulmarg are becoming go-to spots for couples planning dream weddings.
Yet, Kashmir’s tourism journey hasn’t been easy. It faced a major setback on April 22 when Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists killed 26 innocent civilians in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow. The attack shocked the nation and sparked outrage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded decisively, giving India’s armed forces the green light to strike back. In precise operations, they targeted terror bases in Muridke near Lahore, Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Indian forces destroyed nine terror sites, and as tensions rose with Pakistan, 18 of their defense bases took heavy damage.
Despite such challenges, events like this convention show Kashmir’s resilience and its rising appeal as a wedding destination in India. It’s a step forward for tourism recovery and the event industry in the region.
