Union Minister S.P. Singh Baghel recently declared that the NDA alliance will win the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. He said the party’s welfare programs, the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the strong leadership of the BJP‑led coalition will convince voters across the state.
Baghel dismissed the opposition’s latest move to name Tejashwi Yadav as Chief Minister‑in‑waiting and Mukesh Sahani as Deputy Chief Minister. “It may surprise you, but for us political people it’s routine,” he said in an interview. He pointed out that the RJD remains the main opposition force and that Congress is simply following the RJD’s lead, calling its pre‑election announcements “just political posturing.”
The minister argued that the opposition’s focus on caste‑based candidate selection could confuse voters. “If they choose one caste, they risk alienating others,” he said. By contrast, the NDA, he added, promotes a broader, inclusive message that appeals to all communities.
During his recent trips across Bihar, Baghel praised the Central government’s welfare schemes—old‑age pensions, free rations, sanitation drives—and highlighted how these have improved everyday life for women voters. “Women in Bihar prefer Nitish Kumar and feel that Modi’s policies are making life easier,” he noted, citing the impact of tankeeva support and kitchen‑drop schemes.
Baghel urged the opposition to focus on internal party discipline. “They should reconcile their own differences before caring about outsiders,” he said, emphasizing the NDA’s commitment to democratic decision‑making within its ranks.
With polling day approaching, Baghel’s confident remarks underscore the high morale in the NDA camp. As Bihar’s key political showdown continues between the NDA and INDIA alliance, the union minister’s optimism could energise voters and reinforce the coalition’s campaign strategy.
