In a vibrant celebration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) pulled off an incredible feat on Friday. Over 35,000 artists came together to create a stunning 10-km-long live canvas painting, smashing a world record right in the heart of the capital.

The event, themed “Viksit Bharat Ke Rang, Kala Ke Sang” (Colors of Developed India with Art), was part of the Sewa Parv festivities. NDMC teamed up with Triveni Kala Sangam and Delhi University to host it on the lush lawns of Kartavya Path. It kicked off the fortnight-long birthday tributes that started on September 17.

Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat called it a landmark moment. “Thousands of young talents painted on a single 10-km canvas at the same time—it’s history in the making,” he shared.

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw added that the “Viksit Bharat Ke Rang, Kala Ke Sang” initiative isn’t just a Delhi thing. “It’s happening everywhere in India—from states and districts to villages,” he explained. “Bringing over 35,000 artists together shows our unity and makes PM Modi’s birthday unforgettable.”

Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted how special this was for the city. “For the first time in the national capital, thousands of top artists and students from across India joined hands on this giant canvas,” she said. “Their dreams and ideas exploded in colors, creating a beautiful mix of creativity.”

The star-studded lineup included renowned Padma Awardees like Jatin Das and Biman B. Bas from Delhi, Adwaita Gadanayak from Odisha, Jai Prakash from Delhi, Ram Kishan Chhipa from Rajasthan, Shanti Devi from Bihar, Paresh Rathwa from Gujarat, and Kalyan Joshi from Rajasthan. Other talents like Nirmal Soni, Lokesh Joshi, Ayush Chhipawal, and Lavish Joshi also added their magic.

This world record live canvas painting truly captured the spirit of a united, artistic India dreaming big for the future.
