In Tirupati, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla made a strong call for sustainable ways to boost women’s economic power during the closing session of a key national conference. The event wrapped up with everyone adopting the ‘Tirupati Resolution’, a clear plan to push women’s empowerment forward across India.

Birla didn’t hold back, saying women’s empowerment isn’t just a nice social goal—it’s a must for India’s economy to thrive. “Investing in women’s health, education, skills, and entrepreneurship can unlock huge potential and create a strong foundation for growth,” he shared. He added that women’s leadership will play a huge role in turning India into a developed nation, or Viksit Bharat, by 2047.

The Tirupati Resolution lays out bold steps for women’s empowerment in India. It calls for using a ‘gender lens’ in every government ministry and department to make policies fairer. Key focuses include boosting budgets for health, education, skills training, and women entrepreneurs. It also pushes for gender-responsive budgeting and building better technical skills at national and state levels.

On the tech side, the resolution aims to close the digital divide and get more women into STEM fields—think science, technology, engineering, and math. It promises better cyber safety, wider digital literacy programs, and encouraging women to create tech innovations themselves.

At its core, the resolution puts women-led development front and center. It commits to improving women’s education, health, safety, dignity, and self-reliance as the real drivers of India’s progress toward that 2047 Viksit Bharat dream.

Earlier, marking the International Day of Democracy, Birla highlighted how democracy runs deep in India’s roots. “India is the Mother of Democracy—it’s not just politics, but a way of life built on equality, dialogue, and everyone’s voice,” he said. He stressed that true empowerment for women goes beyond welfare; it’s the bedrock of the nation’s future.
