India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has ramped up its fight against Maoist insurgents by filing a second supplementary charge-sheet against two key suspects in a major terror conspiracy case in Jharkhand.

The accused include Jaipal Deogam from West Singhbhum district in Jharkhand and Budru Padam, also known as Rohit Padam, from Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh. Prosecutors charged them under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The NIA submitted the charge-sheet to a special court in Ranchi.

Investigators uncovered a hidden stash of materials buried in a forest between Husipi and Rajabhasa villages in West Singhbhum. The haul featured Rs 10.5 lakh in cash, walkie-talkie sets, a Samsung tablet, a power bank, a radio set, levy collection receipts, gelatine sticks, and other gear linked to CPI (Maoist) operations.

This breakthrough came from tips provided by Rajesh Deogam, who faced charges in July 2024. The case originally started with local police in March 2024, targeting five people and sparking a deeper probe into Maoist activities in the area.

NIA sleuths confirmed that Jaipal Deogam and Budru Padam served as active members of the banned CPI (Maoist) group. They reportedly helped plan terrorist attacks, hold secret meetings, collect extortion money from contractors and traders, move weapons, and even shelter armed fighters to push the outfit’s violent goals.

This case shines a light on the ongoing Maoist threat in Jharkhand and nearby states like Chhattisgarh. NIA officials say the investigation continues, with teams chasing more leads to break up the network and hold everyone involved accountable.

Overall, it shows how the NIA keeps working hard to tackle left-wing extremism and boost national security through smart intel and strong action.
