NIA files chargesheet against three accused in Amritsar temple grenade attack case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken a big step in cracking down on the shocking grenade attack at a temple in Amritsar. On Friday, the agency filed a chargesheet against three key suspects in the Special NIA Court in Mohali, Punjab. This comes after the violent incident at Thakurdwara Sanatan Temple in Chheharta, Amritsar, which shook the community.

The accused named in the Amritsar temple grenade attack case are Vishal Gill (alias Chuchi), Bhagwant Singh (alias Manna Bhatti), and Diwan Singh (alias Sunny). They face charges for plotting and carrying out the attack on March 15, 2025. Vishal Gill was one of two attackers on a bike who threw the grenade in the early hours. His partner, Gursidak Singh (alias Sidki), died in a police encounter just two days later.

According to the NIA chargesheet, Bhagwant Singh played a major role by giving the attackers a safe hideout, storing the grenades, providing bikes for scouting, and handling logistics before and after the strike. Diwan Singh helped by sheltering the others and destroying evidence to cover their tracks.

The probe doesn’t stop there. NIA recently arrested another suspect, Sharanjeet Kumar, from Gaya in Bihar on September 5, 2025. They’re still investigating him, along with Badalpreet Singh, who’s believed to be hiding abroad. The case, registered as RC-08/2025/NIA/DLI, has uncovered scary details about terror funding. Investigators found money flowing from foreign handlers to local operatives via UPI and Money Transfer Service Scheme (MTSS) channels. The agency is digging deeper into these financial trails.

NIA teams are working hard to nab more fugitives and uncover the full network behind this terror module. The attack seems part of a bigger plot by operatives in India and abroad to spread fear, spark communal tensions, and create unrest in Punjab and across the country. Stay tuned as the investigation unfolds—this could expose more links in the ongoing fight against terrorism in India.
