Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati kicked off the Durga Puja celebrations in style on Sunday, visiting the vibrant Jobra Durga Puja pandal in Cuttack. He inaugurated a stunning Silver Filigree Medha and offered prayers to Goddess Durga, according to an official statement from the Governor’s Public Relations Officer.
Joining him was his wife, Jayashree Kambhampati. This year’s Medha, a masterpiece of intricate silver filigree work, showcases Cuttack’s famous tradition that draws admirers from around the world.
The governor couldn’t hide his admiration for the skilled artisans behind the creation. He thanked the organizers for their hard work in keeping Odisha’s rich cultural heritage alive. Kambhampati also shared warm wishes with people across the state for a safe and joyful Durga Puja festival.
Organizing committee members welcomed him and walked him through the setup and the fine details of the Medha. Among the guests were Barabati MLA Sofia Firdous, Choudwar MLA Souvic Biswal, Cuttack Municipal Corporation Mayor Subhash Chandra Singh, and top district officials.
Durga Puja, or Durgotsava, marks Goddess Durga’s triumph over the demon Mahishasura. Hindus believe she visits Earth during this festive time to bless her followers, filling the air with devotion and excitement in places like Cuttack.
