New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his weekly radio show, Mann Ki Baat, to thank citizens for the flood of replies he received after sending a celebratory letter later this month. Modi said the letter highlighted India’s achievements and asked for continued progress across the country.
“After Diwali I wrote to every Indian to share how proud we are of what we have accomplished,” Modi told listeners on the 127th episode of the program. He added that the positive feedback he got helped make this year’s festive season feel even brighter.
The leader praised the army’s “Operation Sindoor” for winning back areas that had once been held by Maoist rebels. “It gives every Indian pride,” Modi said, noting that the operation has lightened a region once shadowed by terror and that many people now want the Maoist threat gone for good.
Modi also highlighted the “GST Bachat Utsav,” a nationwide campaign to reduce tax for common goods, which he said sparked great enthusiasm among shoppers. He then shifted to the surge in “Swadeshi” or home‑grown products during the holidays. “During the festivals, people have been buying more local goods,” he said, citing letters in which citizens listed the Swadeshi items they purchased.
Another point in the letter was a call to cut cooking‑oil use by 10 percent. Modi noted that the public responded well, with many adopting the suggestion.
On cleanliness and sanitation, the prime minister mentioned initiatives in towns and cities across India. He praised the “Garbage Cafe” in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, where food is given to people who bring in plastic waste. He also highlighted Bengaluru’s engineer Kapil Sharma, who started a movement to revive the city’s lakes.
Modi finished by thanking everyone for their ongoing efforts to keep India clean, green, and proud. His remarks were aimed at reinforcing the sense of shared accomplishment and encouraging further action across the nation.
