Oppn panicking as we delivered what they only promised in Bihar: Chirag Paswan

Chirag Paswan, a Union Minister and key NDA ally, hit back hard at Bihar’s opposition parties on Tuesday. He said their worry is obvious because the BJP-led central government and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s state team are actually delivering on big promises—something the opposition never managed to do.

“The opposition is in a panic, and that’s totally understandable,” Paswan told reporters. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s central government and Nitish Kumar’s state administration aren’t just talking about schemes—they’re making them happen on the ground. That has really shaken things up for them.”

Paswan praised recent moves, like the Prime Minister laying foundation stones and launching projects. “I’m thrilled that we’ve turned those welfare schemes—the ones the opposition kept promising to Bihar’s people—into real results,” he added. “We didn’t stop at announcements; we delivered.”

The sharp exchange comes amid fresh corruption allegations from Prashant Kishor, head of the Jan Suraaj Party. At a press conference in Patna, Kishor targeted top NDA leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, Rural Works Minister Ashok Choudhary, and BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal. He claimed to have new evidence, like bank statements and documents, pointing to financial misconduct.

Kishor zeroed in on one case: Between 2019 and 2020, he said, Rs 2.12 crore landed in a Punjab National Bank account belonging to Urmila Pandey, wife of Health Minister Mangal Pandey. Kishor accused the minister of not explaining where the money came from.

Paswan stayed cool but direct about Kishor’s claims. “He’s firing off one allegation after another,” Paswan said. “The real question is, does he have solid facts, or is this just mudslinging? These issues need proper probes—we’ve seen this kind of attack politics in Delhi before.”

NDA leaders insist all the accusations are groundless and timed to stir trouble ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. As Bihar politics heats up, the battle over governance and integrity is drawing sharp lines between the ruling alliance and its challengers.
