In New Delhi on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to the social‑media platform X to wish Andhra Pradesh’s chief minister, Chandrababu Naidu, a big 15‑year anniversary of his tenure. Modi called Naidu’s leadership a “futuristic vision” and praised his continued commitment to good governance.
“I’ve worked with Chandrab Garu on many occasions, starting when we were both chief ministers in the early 2000s,” Modi wrote. “Congratulations on 15 years as Chief Minister. I wish you all the best as you keep working for the welfare of Andhra Pradesh.”
Naidu, who has served in the role four times—first from 1995 to 2004, and again from 2014 to 2019 and then from 2025 onward—took the message in stride. He thanked Modi for the call and reaffirmed his pledge to build a “Swarna Andhra.” He said the state would become a leading force in Modi’s “Viksit Bharat” mission, adding that it had his full support.
The TDP (Telugu Desam Party), which Naidu heads, currently holds a majority in the state’s 175‑member assembly, with 135 MLAs. Its allies, the Janasena Party (21 seats) and the BJP (8 seats), fill the rest of the coalition. The opposition YSR Congress Party manages only 11 seats.
Naidu’s party recently hit a landslide, winning both Assembly and parliamentary elections. His long-standing partnership with the BJP and the Janasena Party has helped keep the coalition in power. This 15‑year milestone underscores his enduring influence in Andhra Pradesh politics and his role in India’s broader development goals.
