Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a powerful speech at the NDTV World Summit 2025, held in New Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam, urging India to stop “saying nothing” about terrorism.
Under the summit theme “Edge of the Unknown: Risk, Resolve, Renewal,” Modi highlighted Operation Sindoor—a coordinated strike on 7 May 2025 that targeted terror camps in Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir and Pakistan’s Punjab province. The attack, carried out by the Indian Air Force, Navy, and Army, used precision missiles to destroy dozens of terrorist facilities and neutralise more than 100 Lashkar‑e‑Taiba, Jaish‑e‑Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen operatives. Modi said the move followed a deadly attack in Pahalgam on 22 April that killed 26 people, underscoring India’s “zero‑tolerance” stance.
The PM’s remarks drew cheers from an international audience that included Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott. He declared that the “era of a silent India is over” and that a self‑reliant India now delivers “surgical strikes, airstrikes and Operation Sindoor” when terror threatens its borders.
Modi also reminded the world that India’s security policy has evolved. He cited earlier surgical strikes in 2016 and the 2019 Balakot airstrike, all aimed at terror camps that responded to attacks in Uri and Pulwama. These actions are part of a broader strategy to keep the nation safe while promoting regional stability.
Beyond security, the prime minister highlighted India’s economic resilience. “Since the pandemic, while the world has focused on conflicts, India kept moving forward,” Modi said. He noted that India’s average GDP growth has been 7.8 % over the last three years and that a recent 7 % rise in merchandise exports confirms the country’s strong economic trajectory.
The NDTV World Summit, which launched on Friday, brought together policymakers, business leaders and cultural figures. Modi’s keynote set a decisive tone, framing India as a confident nation ready to defend its sovereignty and drive growth amid global uncertainty. His message resonated as a strong call for resolve and proved that India is a formidable presence on the world stage.
