Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the growing role of Arunachal Pradesh in India’s development story. He shared an article written by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, saying that the Northeast is no longer a peripheral region but the “pulsating heart” of the country’s growth. Modi pointed out the state’s new airports, the rise of self‑help groups, improved connectivity and a surge in local creativity—all of which he said mirror the spirit of Viksit Bharat, or “developed India.” The PM even urged readers to learn more from Scindia’s “must‑read” piece, linking to it in a tweet from the PMO’s official account.
Later that morning, Modi visited Pusa in Delhi and launched a wave of new plans for India’s agriculture. He met pulse farmers, visited projects linked to the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF), and talked with those working in animal husbandry and fisheries. The day also featured tributes to social reformists Jayaprakash Narayana and Nanaji Deshmukh on their birthdays.
One key announcement was the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Dhan‑Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PM Dhan‑Dhaanya), a coordinated effort across 36 sub‑schemes and 11 ministries aimed at speeding up progress in aspirational districts. Modi also kicked off the Self‑Reliance in Pulses Mission, a push to make India self‑sufficient in pulses and cut import dependence amid rising domestic demand.
During the launch, Modi laid foundations for 1,100 projects under the AIF, covering animal husbandry, fisheries and food processing. All these initiatives together represent a historic investment of over ₹42,000 crore. The funds will help build modern cold‑storage facilities, processing units and warehouses across rural India, boosting efficiency and farmers’ incomes.
Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Minister of State Bhagirath Choudhary attended the event with the Prime Minister. The day marked a significant milestone in India’s agricultural journey, promising stronger infrastructure and greater self‑reliance.
