Prime Minister Narendra Modi is kicking off a big day in Assam today, Sunday, with a series of exciting infrastructure and industrial projects worth over Rs 18,530 crore. This visit is part of his ongoing tour in Northeast India, and it’s all about boosting development in the region.
Starting in Mangaldoi, Darrang district, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for key health education projects. These include a brand-new Medical College and Hospital, a GNM school, and a B.Sc Nursing College. It’s a major step to improve healthcare and education access for locals.
He’ll also kick off the Guwahati Ring Road Project, designed to cut down traffic jams and make city travel smoother. Another highlight is the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra River – this will connect remote areas better and speed up transport in Assam.
In the afternoon, PM Modi heads to Numaligarh in Golaghat district. There, he’ll inaugurate the Assam Bio-Ethanol Private Limited plant, a green energy push for sustainable fuel production. Plus, he’ll lay the foundation for a new polypropylene plant at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL). This move will strengthen Assam’s petrochemical industry and create thousands of jobs.
PM Modi arrived in Guwahati on Saturday and joined the celebrations for the 100th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika. He paid heartfelt tributes to the iconic singer and Assam’s cultural legend.
Security is tight around the event spots, with traffic curbs in parts of Guwahati to keep things running smoothly. These projects in health, roads, bridges, clean energy, and industry show the government’s strong commitment to Assam’s growth and the entire Northeast.
Tomorrow, September 15, PM Modi’s tour continues to West Bengal and Bihar. In Kolkata, he’ll launch the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference. Then in Purnea, Bihar, he’ll open the new terminal at Purnea Airport and roll out development schemes worth Rs 36,000 crore. He’ll also start the National Makhana Board to boost farming and exports in the area.
