Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha shared exciting news on Sunday: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the state on September 22. He’ll kick off the grand redevelopment and beautification of the famous Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur.
Saha dropped this update while wrapping up the three-day Neermahal Jal Utsav at Melaghar. The event celebrated the stunning Neermahal Palace, a one-of-a-kind water palace built by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore. “You won’t find another spot like Neermahal anywhere in the world,” Saha said, urging everyone to spread the word on social media. He highlighted how promoting such cultural gems can boost tourism and lift the local economy in Tripura.
The CM also talked up the state’s tourism push. The current government is sprucing up all major tourist spots, including a massive Rs 97 crore project at Bandower in Gomati district. There, replicas of all 51 Shakti Peeths are coming up to honor India’s rich spiritual heritage. “I’ve invited PM Modi personally, and he’s confirmed,” Saha added. During his visit, Modi will inaugurate the temple upgrades and even offer puja.
Saha praised Modi’s efforts to preserve ancient traditions and culture. He noted Tripura’s strong growth, ranking second in per capita GDP in the Northeast. The focus now is on rural development to build “Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura” – one united, excellent Tripura.
Under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, plans are underway to revamp Neermahal’s Raj Ghat too, making it even more visitor-friendly.
The event saw key attendees like Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman, Sepahijala Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Datta, MLA Taffazal Hossain, District Magistrate Dr Sidharth Shiv Jaiswal, and SP Bijoy Debbarma. This visit promises to spotlight Tripura’s blend of history, culture, and natural beauty.
