Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off a wide‑range development push in Andhra Pradesh today, laying the cornerstone for projects that total about ₹13,430 crore. The programme spans industry, power, roads, railways, defence production, and energy supplies, aiming to lift the state’s economy and create jobs.

The launch is set in Kurnool, where the PM will open a public meeting and deliver a speech for the state’s “Super GST‑Super Saving” campaign, a push to explain the new goods‑and‑services tax rules. Before the ceremony, Modi will perform a traditional blessing and a brief visit to the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam temple in Srisailam, then tour the Sree Shivaji Spoorthi Kendra.

Power and Energy

Modi’s first big highlight is the transmission line upgrade at Kurnool‑III Pooling Station, a project that will cost more than ₹2,880 crore. The new 765‑kV double‑circuit line will link the station to Chilakaluripeta, boosting the grid’s capacity by 6,000 MVA and letting more renewables reach the national grid. He will also unlock a ₹1,730‑crore natural‑gas pipeline that runs 124 km through Andhra and 298 km into Odisha; the line will better supply gas to local industries and consumers.

In Chittoor, a new LPG bottling plant from Indian Oil will open. It can process 60 thousand tonnes a year and will serve over 720,000 customers across Andhra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, strengthening household energy supply.

Industry and Jobs

Modi will pave the way for two fresh industrial hubs. The Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool and the Kopparthy Industrial Area in Kadapa together will draw an estimated ₹4,920 crore in investment, create nearly 100,000 jobs, and give the Rayalaseema region a modern, plug‑and‑play factory layout.

Roads and Connectivity

A six‑lane greenfield highway between Sabbavaram and Sheelanagar will cost about ₹960 crore. The road will ease traffic in Visakhapatnam, boost trade and open up new job prospects. Six more road projects, worth ₹1,140 crore, will also get a green light, promising safer travel and better links between towns.

Railways

Railway upgrades are a major part of the agenda. A new fourth line between Kottavalasa and Vizianagaram, and a flyover from Pendurti to Simhachalam North, will be commissioned. The double‑track extensions of the Kottavalasa‑Boddavara and Shimiliguda‑Gorapur sections will allow trains to run faster and more comfortably for passengers and freight.

Defence Production

Defence manufacturing gets a boost with the Advanced Night Vision Products Factory in Nimmaluru, built by Bharat Electronics Limited at a cost of about ₹360 crore. The plant will produce cutting‑edge electro‑optical systems for the Indian Armed Forces and keep the region’s skilled workforce busy.

The Prime Minister’s visit underlines the central government’s commitment to infrastructure and growth in southern India. With big investments, new jobs, and upgraded utilities, Andhra Pradesh moves firmly toward a more connected, productive future.
