Big Push for Women’s Health: PM Launches Nationwide Campaign Today
New Delhi is buzzing with excitement as the Central government kicks off the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan today, September 17, alongside the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah. This massive drive aims to boost women’s health across India, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will personally launch it from Dhar in Madhya Pradesh.
At AIIMS Delhi, things are gearing up for special medical checkup camps to get more women through the doors. Dr. Nirupam Madan, the Medical Superintendent, shared that men usually outnumber women in their general OPDs. "This is a big push from the PMO to encourage women to visit hospitals," she said. The camps will run at four key spots: the main AIIMS campus, Trilokpuri Centre, Ballabhgarh Community Health Centre, and Jhajjar. Any woman can just walk in from 9 am to 2 pm—no appointments needed!
What’s on offer? Free general health checkups, gynaecological exams, screenings for cervical cancer and breast cancer, plus eye checkups. They’ll keep these activities going throughout the next fortnight to make women’s health a priority. On September 17 itself, expect a lively blood donation drive too.
This isn’t just a Delhi thing—it’s a nationwide women’s health initiative. Over one lakh health camps will pop up at government facilities from September 17 to October 2, marking the biggest outreach ever for women and children in India. PM Modi will also roll out the Adi Seva Parv in Madhya Pradesh, focusing on service activities in tribal areas. He’ll hand out one-crore Sickle Cell Screening and Counselling Cards and inaugurate the PM MITRA Park in Dhar to support local growth.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda is jumping in too. He’ll kick off health camps and the Poshan Maah in line with the PM’s launch in Dhar. Later, he’ll head to MDU University in Rohtak, Haryana, to spread the word on these vital programs.
Adding to the action, the Akhil Bharatiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad (ABTYP)—the world’s largest blood donor group—is teaming up with the government for Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav 2.0. On September 17, 2025 (wait, that’s next year—talk about planning ahead!), over 7,500 blood donation camps will happen in one day across 75 countries, including India. It’s a huge show of service and patriotism that could set a new record in global humanitarian efforts.
These initiatives highlight India’s commitment to women’s health, nutrition, and community service—steps that could make a real difference for millions. Stay tuned for updates as the campaigns unfold!
