Bhuj, Gujarat – Gujarat BJP President Jagdish Vishwakarma blew the whistle on a grand “celebration” of recovery in Kutch, calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a master of turning disaster into opportunity.

During the ceremony, Vishwakarma praised Modi for leading the region from the ruins of the 2001 earthquake to a thriving hub of industry, culture and tourism. He said the PM’s early promise, made when Modi was chief minister, – “to rebuild Kutch” – has just been completed.

“People see Kutch’s revival as a shining example of resilience,” Vishwakarma told a crowd of party workers. “All the investment, over 1.4 lakh crore rupees, has now poured into handicrafts, tourism and industry. We’re the new model of progress in India.”

The BJP leader also slammed the Congress party, accusing its past leaders of ignoring Gujarat’s troubles. He recalled how, as chief minister, Modi secured the Sardar Sarovar Dam and brought water to Kutch in 17 days after becoming prime minister.

Vishwakarma highlighted Modi’s flagship events – the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and the Rann Utsav – for putting Kutch on the world map and creating jobs. “From camel carts to aircraft, everything now emerges from Gujarat,” he said.

The president praised Modi for supporting local artisans and using handmade products to host foreign dignitaries. He described the PM as the “true brand ambassador of India’s craftsmen.”

On agriculture, Vishwakarma welcomed Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s moves to help farmers hit by unseasonal rains. “The government will start crop procurement at the MSP from November 9 to cushion farmers in distress,” he said.

Senior BJP MP Vinod Chavda added that when others turned away, Modi stood by Kutch and left no stone unturned.

The event was a showcase of BJP’s strong organisational ties in the region. Vishwakarma was presented with 151,000 books, to be handed out to needy students as a symbol of education over extravagance.

He wrapped up his speech, demanding unity and warning those who seek to disrupt Gujarat’s peace: “We, the people of this state, will make sure imposters don’t gain power for the next 25 years.”
