Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently shared his warm thanks on social media after meeting a respected Sikh delegation in New Delhi. The group handed over key suggestions on how to safely preserve and proudly display the sacred ‘Jore Sahib’—a pair of holy footwear linked to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji.
In his post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said he felt truly honored to receive these accomplished Sikh leaders. He highlighted the immense spiritual value of the ‘Jore Sahib’ and stressed that such Sikh relics are a vital part of India’s rich cultural heritage. “These holy treasures will guide future generations toward courage, justice, righteousness, and social harmony, just like Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji taught,” he added.
The delegation was led by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and featured prominent members of the Sikh community who have protected these relics for years. The ‘Jore Sahib’ includes footwear sized 11 inches by 3.5 inches for Guru Gobind Singh Ji and 9 inches by 3 inches for Mata Sahib Kaur Ji. The Puri family has carefully guarded them for more than 300 years.
To confirm their authenticity, the Ministry of Culture carried out carbon testing, underscoring their deep spiritual importance in Sikh history.
The meeting turned even more special when popular singer Harshdeep Kaur performed the soul-stirring Mool Mantra. PM Modi, with his head covered in respect, listened intently as the sacred words filled the room.
This heartfelt interaction shows PM Modi’s ongoing support for Sikh heritage and India’s cultural treasures. The Sikh community has praised his efforts, seeing it as a strong sign of the government’s commitment to protecting religious artifacts for everyone.
With plans underway to showcase the ‘Jore Sahib’ to the public, this event highlights unity, reverence, and the timeless influence of the Sikh Gurus on India’s spiritual and moral values.
