Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the nation for the 127th time on his weekly “Mann Ki Baat” radio‑TV programme, wishing all Indians joy on Chhath Mahaparv. He called the four‑day festival a living example of India’s spirit of unity and inclusiveness.
“Chhath Mahaparv shows how culture, nature and society come together,” Modi said. “Everyone, from every walk of life, gathers at the Chhath ghats. It is the most beautiful sight of social unity in our country.” The Prime Minister praised the deep devotion and rich traditions that mark the event.
His message lifted the moods of thousands of Chhath devotees, many in Bihar and the surrounding states who are celebrating with families. Local residents said the Prime Minister’s words made the festival feel even more special.
Manmeet Akela of Hazaribagh told reporters that households had started preparing for Chhath. “People are buying fruits and utensils for Kharna, the second day of the festival,” she said. “By featuring Chhath Puja in his address, Modi is giving the festival more prominence. Once a regional celebration, it will now attract wider attention.”
Anoop Chandravanshi echoed that Chhath has always been about unity. “PM Modi’s congratulations and his mention in Mann Ki Baat boost the festival’s popularity,” he added.
Vishwanath Soni said his family has listened to Mann Ki Baat since the program began. “The Prime Minister thanked us in his greeting and highlighted the message of Swadeshi. This keeps India’s traditions alive, and thanks to Modi, Chhath could become a global celebration,” he said.
The Prime Minister’s heartfelt greeting highlights Chhath Mahaparv as a national celebration and underlines his commitment to cultural unity across India.
