In Bhopal on Tuesday, Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister Mohan Yadav celebrated Police Commemoration Day with a parade, flower tributes and heartfelt words about the young police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The ceremony took place at the Red Parade Ground in the city’s busy civic center.
Yadav thanked the police for keeping society safe. He said the sacrifices made by police men and women protect community peace and give the state a “spirit of self‑less duty.” The CM recalled the cold morning in 1959 when ten brave policemen died defending a post in Ladakh’s Hot Springs area, a moment that started India’s tradition of honoring police martyrs each year.
The Chief Minister praised the police’s powerful role in fight against Naxalism, organized crime, cyber‑ offences and for protecting women. He highlighted the police’s achievements under the state’s zero‑tolerance policy – neutralising ten Naxalites in the last year, arresting a suspect linked to a Jaipur blast and taking firm action against terrorists.
Yadav also highlighted programs that keep citizens safe and informed. The “Safe Click‑Surakshit Jeevan” campaign reduces online risks, while “Nasha Se Door Rehna Hai Zaroori” aims to keep people away from drugs. The Srijan initiative brings community policing to slum areas, teaching children about good and bad touch, sexual‑violence prevention, child rights, nutrition, health and cybersecurity. Yadav said the integrated service centre in Balaghat district boosts overall safety and development.
During the ceremony, Director General of Police Kailash Makwana reminded everyone that between 21 October 1959 and 31 August 2025, 1,009 police officers from Madhya Pradesh have given their lives for the nation.
Mohan Yadav closed the event by urging the people of the kingdom island of peace to remember the bravery of the fallen and cherish the safety that the police continue to bring every morning.
