In Budgam, a police operation in the Chadoora area uncovered a large drug racket, seizing 325 kg of illicit substances. Police officials said the raid was part of a steady effort to curb drug trafficking in the region.
The bust began after Chadoora police received a tip about three men—Ghulam Rasool Wani, Mohd Altaf Wani, and Gh. Nabi Wani—from Chitru Dangerpora. Authorities believed the men were hiding a bulk supply of a “charas‑like” drug in their home.
A police team, led by an Executive Magistrate, searched the residence. Inside, they found 27 nylon bags filled with heavy‑weight hashish, totaling roughly 325 kg. The drugs were seized immediately and sealed for evidence.
The seizure triggered an FIR (No. 181/2025) under sections 8 and 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and investigators have begun a full probe.
Budgam Police stressed that their determination to eradicate drug use remains firm. They urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
The news comes amid ongoing anti‑terrorist operations run by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. These missions target terrorists, their supporters, drug traffickers, and money‑laundering networks—all seen as funding sources for militant activity. The strategy, officials said, now seeks to dismantle the entire terror ecosystem, not just neutralize armed threats.
While the Army covers the 740‑km Line of Control and the Border Security Force guards the 240‑km international border, local police and other security forces conduct anti‑terrorist actions in the hinterland.
