Stone Pelting Sparks Tension During Ganesh Idol Immersion in Madhya Pradesh
In a shocking turn of events, stone pelting attacks on Lord Ganesh idol immersion processions have ignited communal tension across Madhya Pradesh. Cities like Bhopal and Burhanpur saw ugly incidents that left locals furious and right-wing groups demanding quick action from authorities.
Right-wing outfits and top BJP leaders point fingers at the district administration and police for not keeping law and order in check. They call for tough measures against the culprits and even warn of a strong "reaction" if such disruptions hit Hindu festivals again. This Ganesh Chaturthi violence has everyone talking about festival safety in Madhya Pradesh.
Chaos Erupts in Bhopal’s Arif Nagar
Things heated up in Bhopal’s Arif Nagar area on Monday night when a Ganesh immersion procession faced a hail of stones. Angry crowds surrounded the Gautam Nagar police station for a short while, protesting the attack. Cops quickly stepped in, filing an FIR and identifying three suspects in their initial probe.
Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayan Chari Mishra urged everyone to stay calm. "We’re investigating the matter thoroughly and will examine all evidence," he said, promising a fair probe into the Bhopal stone pelting incident.
Senior BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma didn’t hold back. He claimed members of the minority community carried out the attack. "This isn’t a government handing out biryani—celebrate your festivals peacefully without messing with Hindu ones. If you do, Hindus will have to react, and things could spiral out of control," warned Sharma, a three-time MLA from the Huzur seat.
Minister Vishwas Sarang echoed the call for action. "We’ll take strict steps against anyone trying to spoil the fun. An FIR is already in place, and no one gets a free pass for creating trouble," he assured, vowing to set an example in this Madhya Pradesh communal tension.
Injuries and Arrests in Burhanpur
Over in Burhanpur district, the trouble started a day earlier on Sunday night. Stones rained down on a Ganesh immersion procession, injuring three people. Police rushed in with heavy security to calm the situation, and it didn’t take long to bring things under control. In a bold move, they arrested seven individuals from both communities involved in the Burhanpur stone pelting clash.
Local right-wing activist Chandrashekhar Tiwari from Sanskriti Bachao Manch shared a strong message in a viral social media video. "How much more can Hindus take these targeted attacks on our religious festivals? If actions lead to reactions, we’ll need curfews across Madhya Pradesh," he cautioned.
As investigations continue in both cities, the focus remains on preventing more Ganesh festival violence and ensuring peaceful celebrations. Authorities assure the public that they’re on high alert to maintain harmony amid rising communal tension in Madhya Pradesh.
