In Shimla, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu took quick action on Friday. He ordered the Revenue Department to compile a detailed report on the damages from recent natural calamities across the state. The goal? Send it straight to the Central government without any delays.
During a meeting with top administrative secretaries, Sukhu highlighted how this year’s monsoon hit hard, much like the devastating floods in 2023. Lives and properties suffered major losses. Still, the state government is stepping up with its limited resources to help every affected family get the relief they need.
Sukhu urged the secretaries to set clear targets and wrap up all pending work. This will ensure people see real benefits from ongoing development projects. He stressed that his administration focuses on good governance to improve lives in Himachal Pradesh.
The Chief Secretary will keep a close eye on how departmental projects are moving forward. Sukhu called on everyone to work hard and dedicatedly. The aim is to turn Himachal Pradesh into a self-reliant state by putting plans and schemes into action on the ground.
One key push: Speed up the expansion of Kangra Airport and other tourism initiatives to boost the local economy. The government is prioritizing sectors like health, education, rural economy, tourism, energy, food processing, and data storage. They’re also inviting more investments to fuel growth in these areas.
In health, big reforms are underway so residents can access quality treatment right near their homes. The state plans to upgrade all seven medical colleges with cutting-edge equipment and machines, modeled after AIIMS in Delhi.
Sukhu also spotlighted green transport, pushing for more electric vehicles and the infrastructure to support them. With nearly 90% of Himachal’s population living in rural areas, the government is doubling down on strengthening the rural economy to bring real benefits to villagers.
