Top leaders in India, including President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, showered congratulations on C.P. Radhakrishnan after his big win in the Vice President of India election. This exciting moment highlights the strength of Indian democracy as Radhakrishnan steps into one of the country’s highest offices.

President Murmu shared a warm message on X, praising Radhakrishnan’s long years in public service. “Congratulations to Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan on being elected as the Vice President of India! Your decades of rich experience in public life will contribute significantly to the nation’s progress. I extend my best wishes to you for a successful and impactful tenure,” she wrote. Her words show how much faith leaders have in his ability to drive India’s growth forward.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also celebrated the victory, calling Radhakrishnan a true champion for the poor and marginalized. In his X post, Modi said, “Congratulations to Thiru C.P. Radhakrishnan Ji on winning the 2025 Vice Presidential election. His life has always been devoted to serving society. I am confident he will be an outstanding VP, who will strengthen our Constitutional values and enhance Parliamentary discourse.” Modi’s message underscores Radhakrishnan’s dedication to social service and his role in upholding India’s democratic principles.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah focused on Radhakrishnan’s inspiring rise from the grassroots level and his sharp administrative skills. Shah tweeted, “I firmly believe that your sagacity as a leader who has risen from the grassroots and profound knowledge about administration will help us bring out the best in our parliamentary democracy to serve the marginalised. I extend my warmest wishes to you for your journey as custodian of the sanctity of the Upper House.” This highlights how Radhakrishnan’s background will boost parliamentary democracy and support marginalized communities.

Other key figures joined the celebrations too. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari praised Radhakrishnan’s commitment to democratic values and his vision for the nation. “His long-standing public service, commitment to democratic values and vision for the nation will undoubtedly enrich the august office he now assumes, while also strengthening India’s voice on global platforms,” Gadkari said. He believes this election will amplify India’s presence worldwide.

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu echoed the sentiment, saying the win reaffirms the vibrancy of India’s democracy. “Best wishes for a fruitful and inspiring tenure ahead,” he added, looking forward to Radhakrishnan’s contributions.

Currently serving as the Governor of Maharashtra, Radhakrishnan clinched the Vice President of India position by securing 452 first-preference votes. He comfortably defeated opposition candidate Justice (Retd) B. Sudarshan Reddy, who received 300 votes. This victory makes Radhakrishnan the 15th Vice President of India, and he will also take on the role of Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, guiding the Upper House with his experience.
