President Droupadi Murmu heads to Gaya, Bihar, on Saturday for a special visit to the Vishnupad Temple. She’ll perform traditional Hindu rituals like Pind Daan and Tarpan to honor her ancestors and bring peace to their souls.
Gaya holds a sacred spot in Hindu beliefs, drawing crowds for these ancestral rites. The Vishnupad Temple sits right by the Falgu River and sees even more visitors right now during the Pitru Paksha period—a time focused on remembering the departed.
Rashtrapati Bhavan announced the trip, confirming the President arrives on September 20, 2025, to offer puja at the temple. She’ll fly into Gaya Airport and take a secure route to the site, going through Gate No. 5, a bypass, Narayani Bridge, and Bengali Ashram. Expect her to head back the same way after the ceremonies.
To keep things smooth and safe, Gaya’s district administration and police have rolled out tight security and traffic plans. They’ve closed off key roads near the temple and around town, including paths from Domuhan to Sikariya Mod, Gate No. 5 to City Public School, and Chand Chaura to Bengali Ashram.
Don’t worry—folks have backup options. Drivers can use the Bodh Gaya–Four Lane route, linking spots like Gulharia Chak Mod, Chakand railway crossing, Kandi Nawada, Kukra Mod, Mehta Petrol Pump, and City Public School. Near the temple, drop gates let people park and walk the rest of the way.
Officials promise top-notch security, joking that “not even a bird can fly” through the setup. This ensures the President’s safety while letting pilgrims carry on with their visits during Pitru Paksha.
