Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh—Starting October 1, Van Vihar National Park in Bhopal has banned all private vehicles inside the park to better protect its wildlife and environment. This move aims to keep the area safe for animals and preserve their natural habitat.

Tourists and visitors can still explore the park using golf carts and electric vehicles run by park staff. Walking and cycling remain options, just like before. On Wednesday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched the new fleet of electric vehicles to kick off the changes.

Park Director Vijay Kumar explained the reasoning to : “Van Vihar serves as a wildlife habitat, rescue center, and zoo. Our goal is to educate visitors about animals while boosting tourism and ensuring their safety. Banning private vehicles helps create a peaceful environment for the creatures. Now, guests can hop on management-operated golf carts or e-vehicles. If you prefer walking or biking, those rules stay the same.”

Fees haven’t changed, and visitors can choose from golf carts, e-vehicles, or cycles based on the park’s pricing. For golf carts, there’s a regular service that runs every 5-10 minutes between Gate 1 and Gate 2, stopping at 11 popular spots like the tiger enclosure, snake park, and butterfly park. Tickets cost just Rs 60, and you can get on or off at any stop with the next available cart. Families wanting a private golf cart for a more personalized tour can book one for Rs 400 over three hours.

Cycling fees are unchanged too: Bring your own bike for Rs 30, or rent one from the park for Rs 40.

Private vehicles must park outside. Two-wheelers can park at either Gate 1 or Gate 2, while cars and larger vehicles go to Gate 2. This setup makes it easy for everyone to enjoy Van Vihar National Park’s wildlife attractions without harming the environment.
