Border Security Force troops in Amritsar have nabbed a large stash of illegal drugs and gun ammunition from two separate raids that took place in the last 24 hours.
The first operation began after BSF soldiers spotted a suspected drone at a farm near the village of Bhaini Rajputana. They quickly searched the area with Punjab Police and seized a big packet containing three small plastic boxes of ICE drug, a potent methamphetamine. The haul weighed 3.049 kg in total.
A few hours later, BSF carried out a nighttime raid on another field close to Attari, a busy border town. The team recovered three large packets that held 15 smaller packets of heroin, weighing 7.985 kg, plus 290 g of opium and 34 rounds of live Pakistani‑made ammunition.
“These operations show how alert and determined the BSF is in stopping cross‑border drug trafficking and terrorism,” a BSF official said.
The bust is part of a broader campaign. On October 7, BSF troops in Tarn Taran district found pistol parts and 75 live 9‑mm rounds in a plastic bottle near the village of Naushera Dhalla, wrapped in yellow tape and marked with a metal loop that suggests a drone drop. The ammunition carried stamps from the Pakistan Ordnance Factory, confirming links to Pakistani‑backed smugglers aiming to create unrest in India.
The department says it will keep up the pressure on smuggling networks and crack down on any attempt to bring drugs and arms across the India‑Pakistan border.
