Sanju Arora and Gurmeet Singh Khudian, two cabinet ministers from Punjab, paid a friendly visit to Telangana’s Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday in Hyderabad. During the brief meeting, the ministers formally invited Reddy to join the 350‑year‑old memorial for Guru Tegh Bahadur, the Sikh martyr whose death is commemorated in November.
The Guru Tegh Bahadur remembrance will begin on November 20 in Anandpur Sahib, a city that holds deep spiritual and cultural significance for Sikhs. The ministers stressed that the occasion symbolizes sacrifice, faith, and unity—values that can strengthen peace and cooperation among different communities.
Chief Minister Reddy welcomed the invitation and said he is considering attending the event. He also thanked the Punjab leaders for their support.
The two sides used the meeting to talk beyond the ceremony. They discussed how each state runs its health and education systems and shared ideas for boosting public services. The conversation underscored a shared goal of improving welfare and spurring development projects.
Punjab’s new chief minister, Bhagwant Mann, has tasked all state cabinet ministers with personally inviting the leaders of other states. Several ministers already handed invites to the chief ministers of Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and the southern states of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. Others have been assigned Maharashtra, Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
The outreach effort reflects Punjab’s commitment to fostering cultural bonds and cooperative growth with its sister states.
