In Chandigarh, Punjab’s Industry Minister Sanjeev Arora joined local industrialists on Tuesday to meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. They handed over a cheque worth Rs 6 crore to support the state’s flood relief efforts through Mission Chardikala, according to the Aam Aadmi Party’s public relations office.
Just a week earlier, on September 17, Mann kicked off Mission Chardikala to help rebuild lives for families hit hard by the devastating floods in Punjab. In a heartfelt video message, he called on people across India and Punjabis around the world to chip in for the rehabilitation drive.
Mann highlighted the massive toll from the floods, estimating initial losses at about Rs 13,800 crore. “As the water levels drop, we’ll get a clearer picture of the damage, and this number might climb higher,” he said. He described these as Punjab’s toughest times yet, but added that the state’s resilient spirit shines through. “We’ve seen young people risking their lives to rescue others in danger—that’s our real strength. This land of gurus, peers, and martyrs is truly blessed.”
The chief minister stressed the urgent need to get families back on their feet. “We’re launching Mission Chardikala for that exact purpose,” Mann said. He urged everyone to contribute to Punjab’s flood rehabilitation. For more details and ways to donate, check out the official site at http://rangla.punjab.gov.in.
