In Ghonewal village, Gandhi met villagers staring at ruined homes, destroyed fields, and shattered lives. “The pain is clear in their eyes, but their spirit stays strong,” he shared on social media. “I stand with every affected family in this tragedy. I’ll raise their voices and make sure they get all the help possible.”

Gandhi also checked on the ongoing relief efforts in the flood-hit areas. Thousands of lives in Punjab have turned upside down due to these devastating floods, with heavy losses in property and livelihoods. Many people are now living in relief camps, as per a Congress post on X.

The party called on every Congress worker to stand by Punjab during these tough times. “We appeal to everyone to extend all possible aid to flood-affected families. Let’s unite to beat this disaster,” the post added.

The floods have wreaked havoc across Punjab, damaging a whopping 1,98,525 hectares of crop area. The worst-hit districts include Gurdaspur (40,169 hectares), Fazilka (25,182 hectares), Patiala (17,690 hectares), Kapurthala (17,574 hectares), Ferozepur (17,257 hectares), and Tarn Taran (12,828 hectares).

Tragically, Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh reported that the death toll from the floods has climbed to 56 statewide. As Punjab battles this crisis, leaders like Rahul Gandhi are pushing for quick action to help rebuild lives.
