Supriya Sule Backs Rahul Gandhi’s Vote Theft Claims Against Election Commission
Mumbai: NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule came out strongly in support of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday, defending his latest accusations of vote theft. She made it clear that Gandhi’s charges target the Election Commission of India (ECI), not any political party like the BJP.
Talking to reporters, Sule explained that the ECI, as an independent body, should handle these allegations on its own. "In a strong democracy, everyone has the right to speak," she said. "Rahul Gandhi shared a detailed presentation with solid data. These claims aren’t against the BJP or any other party—they’re aimed straight at the Election Commission. So why are political parties getting worried? They’re not accused here. The ECI will respond to this, and parties don’t need to say a word."
Sule’s defense highlights the growing debate around election integrity in India, especially with Gandhi’s repeated calls for transparency in the voting process.
Meanwhile, CPI leader D Raja didn’t hold back either. He hit out at the Election Commission, calling its credibility into question. "Rahul Gandhi has raised important points, and now the ECI must answer them," Raja told . "The Election Commission needs to explain to the people how it’s working as per the Constitution. Right now, its credibility is under a big question mark."
Raja’s sharp words add to the chorus of opposition voices demanding accountability from the poll body.
This comes right after Rahul Gandhi’s fresh attack on the ECI and BJP earlier in the day. The Congress MP accused them of enabling massive voter manipulation during elections, dubbing it "Vote Chori" or vote theft. In a bold post on X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi claimed the election watchdog ignored clear wrongdoing.
"Wake up at 4 AM, delete two voters in 36 seconds, then go back to sleep—that’s how the vote theft happened!" he wrote. "The election watchdog stayed awake, kept watching the theft, kept protecting the thieves." Gandhi alleged that lakhs of voters got removed from electoral rolls in seconds, pointing to what he sees as deliberate lapses by the ECI.
Gandhi’s post has sparked fresh discussions on voter list issues and the role of the Election Commission in ensuring fair polls. As opposition leaders rally behind him, all eyes are on how the ECI will respond to these serious vote theft allegations.
