Chaos in Kathmandu: Rajasthan Tourists Stranded After Stone-Pelting Attack
Imagine planning a peaceful trip to Nepal, only to face sudden panic from stone-throwing agitators. That’s exactly what happened to several Indian tourists, including many from Rajasthan, near the famous Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu. Buses carrying these visitors came under attack, sparking widespread fear among stranded Indian citizens in Nepal. But here’s the good news: Rajasthan Police stepped in with quick helpline support, helping families reunite and ensuring safe evacuations amid the tension.
The trouble started when agitators targeted company buses packed with Indian tourists. Passengers from Rajasthan shared stories of shattered windows and heart-pounding moments as they hid for safety. Families back home grew worried after hearing about the vandalism near the Pashupatinath Temple guest house. "We didn’t know if our loved ones were okay," one relative told officials.
Rajasthan Police acted fast under DGP Rajiv Sharma’s guidance. They launched a dedicated helpline for stranded Rajasthanis in Nepal, and it’s already making a big difference. Inspector General Anil Kumar Tank shared that on Wednesday alone, 43 people called for help. Tuesday saw 23 calls, and Thursday had 8. "We listened to every concern and responded right away," he said. The Indian Embassy in Nepal also urged citizens to avoid travel to Kathmandu until things calm down.
Thanks to coordinated efforts, the situation is improving. The embassy and Rajasthan government worked together to move stranded tourists to secure hotels with police protection. Extra security now guards Kathmandu airport, and many are heading back to India via flights, buses, or even crossing the border with local help. "It’s a relief to know help is just a call away," said one grateful family member.
To handle the rush, Rajasthan Police set up a special cell at their headquarters, led by SP Law and Order Govardhanlal Sokaria. Three experienced officers man it 24/7. Families praised the helpline for not just connecting them with relatives but also building trust that everyone would return safely.
If you or your loved ones are affected by the Nepal unrest or similar issues, reach out anytime. Call 0141-2740832 or 0141-2741807, or WhatsApp 97849-42702. DGP Sharma promised the service will run round-the-clock until all stranded Indian citizens in Nepal are back home safe.
This quick response from Rajasthan Police highlights how vital such helplines are during travel emergencies in Nepal. Tourists, stay alert and check official updates before heading to Kathmandu.
