Jaipur—Rajasthan’s intelligence officials say they have detained a man from Alwar who was spying for Pakistan’s Inter‑Services Intelligence (ISI).
The arrested citizen, Mangat Singh of Govindgarh in Alwar district, was booked under the Official Secrets Act of 1923 after authorities found him sharing sensitive information about the Alwar cantonment and other strategic sites.
The arrest was part of “Operation Sindoor,” a campaign that keeps a close eye on key locations across the state. Alwar is a high‑profile area because it lies within the National Capital Region, which is considered a strategic hub.
During a routine surveillance mission at the Alwar cantonment, officials flagged Singh’s activities as suspicious. An investigation revealed that for the past two years, he had been in contact with Pakistani intelligence handlers via social media. According to police, Singh was “honey‑trapped” by a woman using the alias Isha Sharma, who offered him money in exchange for information.
After questioning at the Central Enquiry Centre in Jaipur and a technical review of his mobile phone, Rajasthan’s CID (Intelligence) confirmed Singh’s involvement. He was formally charged under the Official Secrets Act at the Special Police Station in Jaipur and was taken into custody on October 10, 2025.
Earlier in the week, the Rajasthan Police also arrested a suspected Pakistani spy in Jaisalmer. Mahendra Prasad, a 32‑year‑old manager at the DRDO Guest House near Chandan Field, was detained for allegedly leaking defence secrets to ISI. In addition, Hanif Khan of Basanpeer Jooni in Jaisalmer was booked for sending confidential army information to Pakistan in exchange for money.
Vishnukant, IG of the CID, said the police intelligence unit has been monitoring espionage activities across Rajasthan closely and will continue to crack down on such threats.
