New Delhi – The Union Home Ministry is set to stage a major celebration on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, October 31, in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. The day will honor the spirit of unity and patriotism that defined India and mark the 150th birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “Iron Man of India” who brought 562 princely states together.
The Friday announcement said the event will feature a grand parade and a cultural festival. Police and paramilitary forces will showcase their skills, discipline and bravery. CAPFs – the Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Indo‑Tibetan Border Police and Sashastra Seema Bharat – will march alongside state police from Assam, Tripura, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and the National Cadet Corps.
Cavalry and camel‑mounted units will add a dramatic flair, while demonstrations by Rampur and Mudhol hounds – two indigenous Indian breeds – will highlight country‑grown talent. The Mudhol Hound “Riya”, who won a recent All‑India Police Dog Competition, will lead the dog squad in the parade.
Women police officers will take centre stage. A female officer will lead the Guard of Honour presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and women from the CISF and CRPF will perform martial arts and unarmed‑combat drills, underscoring the strength of India’s daughters.
Brass bands from the BSF, CRPF, CISF, SSB, Delhi Police and various state forces will add a musical boost. The parade will also feature five Shaurya Chakra recipients from the CRPF and 16 gallantry‑medal awardees from the BSF, who were decorated for bravery in anti‑Naxal and counter‑terror operations.
Alongside the parade, a cultural programme organised by the Ministry of Culture will bring together 900 artists to perform India’s classical dances, showcasing the nation’s diverse heritage and national unity.
The event will demonstrate India’s commitment to “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” – self‑reliance – by celebrating home‑grown talents and fostering a sense of shared pride across the country.
