Indian Air Force Strikes Cripple Lashkar-e-Taiba’s Muridke Headquarters, But Pakistan Steps In to Rebuild
In a bold move back in May 2025, the Indian Air Force launched Operation Sindoor and turned Lashkar-e-Taiba’s (LeT) key headquarters at Muridke into rubble. The precision strikes hit vital spots like cadre housing, weapons storage, and the Umm-ul-Qura training blocks, seriously damaging the terror group’s command center in Pakistan’s Punjab province.
But here’s the twist: New intelligence reports show Pakistan is now bankrolling the reconstruction of this LeT terror hub. Officials in Islamabad have already handed over PKR 4 crore to the group, even as LeT figures the full rebuild could cost more than PKR 15 crore. Top commanders like Maulana Abu Zar and Yunus Shah Bukhari are leading the effort, aiming to finish by February 5, 2026—just in time for LeT’s annual Kashmir Solidarity Day event.
Agencies have put together a detailed dossier exposing how LeT members are raising funds by pretending to help flood victims. This isn’t new; back in 2005, after a major earthquake, LeT’s front group Jamaat-ud-Dawa diverted nearly 80% of relief money to build militant camps. Despite Pakistan’s repeated promises on the world stage to fight terrorism, the evidence points to its Army and ISI playing a direct role in keeping LeT alive and kicking.
Experts are sounding the alarm, saying this rebuild shows Pakistan’s double game on counter-terrorism and raises fears of new cross-border attacks planned from its soil. Markaz Taiba in Muridke isn’t just any spot—it’s a hotspot for radicalization, where terror outfits train in intelligence, arms handling, and more.
Set up in 2000 in Nangal Sahdan, Muridke, Sheikhupura, this massive complex draws recruits from Pakistan and beyond. It runs courses for around 1,000 students each year, turning them into potential militants for LeT. Even Osama bin Laden chipped in Rs 10 million to build a mosque and guest house there.
The site’s dark history ties directly to major attacks, like the 2008 Mumbai terror assault. At Pakistan ISI’s orders, attackers including Ajmal Kasab got their Daura-e-Ribbat intelligence training right here. Key plotters David Coleman Headley and Tahawwur Hussain Rana scouted the place with co-conspirators like Abdul Rehman Sayed (aka Pasha), Haroon, and Khurram, all under Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi’s instructions.
As tensions simmer between India and Pakistan over terrorism, this fresh intel on LeT’s revival at Muridke keeps the spotlight on cross-border terror threats.
