Amaravati – Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan told voters and fellow politicians on Wednesday that national security is a priority for every political party in India, not just for the central government.
The actor‑turned‑politician spoke on “X,” highlighting the growing threat of terrorism across the country. He said the latest ISIS‑linked plot in Vizianagaram was foiled by the NIA and other agencies, which stopped improvised‑explosive device attacks planned for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Kalyan warned that security risks now emerge from small towns and villages, not just big cities.
Kalyan stressed that protecting India is a collective duty. “The task of national security belongs to every state government, every local body and every citizen,” he said. He urged regional parties not to ignore this issue and called for a top‑priority agenda on safety, whatever the region they represent. He added that no political debate should come above the country’s protection.
The Deputy CM also warned about rising radicalisation in neighbourhoods. “Radical groups are growing right inside our streets,” he said. Kalyan called on schools, colleges, offices, religious institutions, police stations and even individual citizens to stay alert. “Complacency costs us too much,” he warned.
He pointed out that while the armed forces guard borders, internal threats – “pseudo‑secularism, divisive politics and regional pride,” – can weaken democracy from within. “These forces aim to fragment our nation,” he added, urging the public, especially the youth, to see beyond daily political bickering and focus on protecting the nation’s core values.
Kalyan praised the intelligence and security forces as unsung heroes. “They work quietly day and night, stopping dangers before they can harm us,” he said. He recalled the recent dismantling of 2,900 kg of IED‑making material, hidden caches of assault rifles, and a ricin plan that could have caused serious harm if not intercepted. “We owe them everything for what they avert,” he concluded.
