Bengaluru – BJP MLC N. Ravi Kumar told reporters that the Karnataka government should fix the state’s urgent problems before anyone talks about who will replace Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Speaking at the BJP state office, Ravi Kumar, the opposition chief whip in the Legislative Council, said that the choice of a new chief minister is not the party’s priority. “We just want the state’s pressing issues resolved first,” he added.
The MLC hit the state government over a number of hot‑button topics. He accused the chief minister’s home district of Mysuru of running a female foeticide racket and asked Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao what he says about it. He also asked why no action has been taken in a rape case involving a child from the nomadic Hakki Pikki community.
Ravi Kumar raised several other complaints. He said drugs are openly sold in Mysuru and that 2,300 farmers and seven government employees have committed suicide, partly because of unpaid salaries. He mentioned a librarian who died in Kalaburagi and a waterman who took their own life in Chamarajanagar because of similar financial grievances.
The MLC slammed the state’s law‑and‑order situation, noting that rape and murder cases keep surfacing in Bengaluru. When asked about Home Minister G. Parameshwara, Ravi Kumar urged the minister to be more visible in addressing the problems.
He also criticised the chief minister’s handling of a pending Rs 33,000 crore payment to contractors, many of whom have taken their own lives. The BJP leader said the drop in support effort has hurt Karnataka’s reputation. He mentioned the loss of an AI hub to Andhra Pradesh and said the state could have created thousands of jobs if it had focused on business development instead of succession politics.
“First solve these real issues for the people,” Ravi Kumar urged, “and then we’ll talk about who should lead next.”
