In Patna, a fresh round of drama unfolded inside the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) as Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, publicly criticized Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav. On Tuesday, the 44‑year‑old used her official X (formerly Twitter) account to call out the MP for “humiliating” her after she gave a kidney to her father in 2022.
Rohini challenged Sanjay to donate a kidney to a needy patient herself, demanding that anyone who wants to “play Lalu’s name” must show real empathy. She bluntly questioned critics who called her donation “dirty,” urging them to step into a live debate and show they’re willing to give kidneys to the poor.
“We’re asking those who can’t even consider giving blood to preach about kidney donation,” she wrote. “If you want to use Lalu’s name, stop acting fake and actually donate.”
The post aired just weeks after the RJD’s heavy loss in the Bihar Assembly elections. The party has been wracked by internal conflict. Sanjay Yadav, who hails from Haryana, has faced criticism from RJD workers and family members following the defeat. Rohini, who left the Lalu family home on November 15, has been vocal about the turmoil.
After a three‑year kidney donation to her father, Mohali‑based Rohini flew to Delhi with serious allegations against the party. In a statement at Patna airport, she said she had been threatened with “slipper‑beating” at the Lalu–Rabri residence. She named Tejashwi Yadav – Lalu’s son and current RJD leader – and his close aides, Sanjay Yadav and Rameez Nemat Khan, as responsible for the threats and for expelling her from the household.
“We have no family left,” she grieved. “Why am I leaving the house? They’ve kicked me out.” She implied that Tejashwi’s advisers were skulking behind the party’s setback, refusing to take responsibility while blaming others.
The situation has spotlighted Sanjay Yadav, who serves as an MP in the upper house, and Rameez Nemat Khan, a long‑time Tejashwi aide from Uttar Pradesh who joined RJD in 2016. The internal feud now dominates headlines, raising questions about how the party’s leadership can stay together after a record‑low vote share.
For voters, the drama shows how a political family’s public image can shift quickly when personal sacrifice and party politics collide. Rohini’s claims of “slipper‑beating” and other threats paint a picture of a party in crisis, while her call for real medical donations invites the public to ask whether bold words can be matched by bold actions.
As the RJD works to rebuild trust, people will watch to see if Sanjay Yadav responds to the challenge and whether the party can heal its fractured image after the Bihar elections.
