Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary: Unity March in Vadodara sees participation of MP, MLA and locals
In Vadodara, thousands marched this weekend to mark the 150th birthday of India’s “Iron Man,” Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event, called the Unity March, drew many local residents and elected leaders to celebrate Patel’s legacy of nation‑building and unity.
The march was organized by Gujarat Child Welfare Minister Manishaben Vakil, who said the goal was to bring Patel’s message of national solidarity to everyday people, not just textbooks. “We want the contributions of our national heroes to be part of our celebrations,” she told reporters.
“It’s great that Gujarat is part of the national Unity March that the Lok Sabha is launching across India,” noted MP Dr. Hemang Joshi. “People from all walks of life are celebrating the spirit of unity that Sardar Patel fostered decades ago.”
Participants that day included Vadodara MP Dr. Hemang Joshi, BJP Vadodara metropolitan president Dr. Jaiprakash Soni, and several spiritual leaders. A highlight was a tribal dance that won applause and saw the ministers join in, showing solidarity across generations.
Throughout the streets, slogans floated in the air—“Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Sardar Patel Amar Rahen.” College students, community groups, and everyday citizens marched together, waving flags and chanting for a self‑reliant India.
