Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as a pillar of a united India and confirmed that the state will launch a series of events to celebrate the freedom fighter’s 150 th birth anniversary on Sunday.
In a brief statement, Yogi highlighted that the 150 th birthday of the “Iron Man” of Indian politics will be marked with “various programs” that aim to promote national unity and civic pride. He added that, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India has observed Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary as National Unity Day since 2014, with the BJP running the annual Run for Unity initiative.
The upcoming celebration will feature the nationwide “Saradar@150 Unity March,” a patriotic march intended to honor Patel’s role in uniting India. The march will also tie into the government’s “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” campaign, supporting the Prime Minister’s Vision of a Developed and Self‑Sufficient India.
Alongside the march, state officials plan a range of community projects. These include cleanliness drives around water bodies, tree‑planting under the Sardar Upvan program, women‑welfare camps, yoga and health sessions, and “Vocal for Local” campaigns. The goal is to mobilise citizens, spotlight local innovation, and channel youthful energy into nation‑building initiatives across districts.
The Unity March 2025 will follow a multi‑stage format, linking district‑level mobilisation with a national padyatra that pays tribute to Patel’s legacy. These events are designed to bring residents together, foster a sense of shared history, and highlight India’s collective progress.
