As Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday approaches on September 17, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan shared a touching story that shows Modi’s deep respect for BJP party workers. He posted it on social media platform X, calling it his “My Modi Story,” complete with a heartfelt video message.
Chouhan recalled the days when Modi, serving as the BJP’s General Secretary, traveled non-stop across Madhya Pradesh. He met workers from every corner of the state, always remembering their names and efforts. “Modi ji’s incredible memory and genuine respect for every contributor to the party always amazed us,” Chouhan said.
He shared a special memory about former minister Laxmi Narayan Gupta. During one visit to Bhopal for an event, Chouhan suggested Modi meet Gupta. Modi agreed right away, without a second thought.
What happened next moved everyone. They invited Gupta to the venue, expecting just a quick hello. But as soon as Modi saw him, he bowed low and touched Gupta’s feet in deep respect. “It was such an emotional moment,” Chouhan described.
Even as India’s busy Prime Minister, Modi made time for a real conversation. He spoke warmly to Gupta, who had hearing issues, and raised his voice so Gupta could follow every word. Only after this chat did Modi head to the main stage.
Sadly, this turned out to be their last meeting. Just days later, Laxmi Narayan Gupta passed away. “It felt like he waited to see Modi ji one final time. That memory stays with me forever,” Chouhan added.
Born on September 17, 1950, in the small town of Vadnagar in Gujarat’s Mehsana district, Modi was the third of six children to Damodardas Modi and Hiraben Modi. The BJP marks his birthday as Sewa Diwas, or Day of Service. Supporters organize welfare events like blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, and health check-ups to celebrate.
This story highlights why so many admire PM Modi’s humility and connection with people, especially ahead of his birthday celebrations.
