Delhi residents woke up to a welcome surprise on Tuesday morning when dark clouds rolled in over the National Capital Region (NCR), bringing short bursts of rain to Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and nearby spots.
After a tough week of sticky heat and high humidity, these Delhi rains offered much-needed relief. The downpour quickly cooled things off, dropping the temperature and creating a refreshing change from the summer-like swelter.
That said, the sudden showers didn’t come without hassles. Traffic jams and waterlogging popped up across several areas, slowing down the morning commute. Drivers in Ghaziabad’s Vaishali and Indirapuram, plus various sectors in Noida and Delhi, faced delays as roads got slick and flooded.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says this NCR weather pattern will stick around for the next couple of days. Expect thunderstorms with lightning through October 1 in the region.
Looking ahead, highs should stay around 34-35 degrees Celsius, with lows between 26-29 degrees Celsius. Skies will be partly cloudy, with chances of light rain or drizzle. Humidity levels, ranging from 55-85 percent, should keep things feeling comfortable overall.
Starting October 2, the rain will ease up, but clouds will linger. By October 5, clearer skies are on the way, with daytime temps dipping to about 33 degrees Celsius and nights cooling to near 24 degrees Celsius.
Many folks are loving the shift—social media is buzzing with photos and videos of people enjoying the cooler Delhi weather. Farmers in surrounding districts are thrilled too, as the moisture could boost late-planted crops just in time.
Weather experts note that this spell helps even out conditions as the southwest monsoon wraps up in northwest India.
