Gujarat Police in Vadodara shared a positive update on Saturday about the stone pelting clash in the Junagarhi area. Officials say the situation remains peaceful and fully under control after tensions flared late Friday night over an alleged offensive social media post.
The trouble started when the post sparked protests near the City Police Station. A crowd gathered to complain, but things turned chaotic as some people pelted stones in Junagarhi, attacked a nearby Navratri pandal, and damaged parked vehicles. Police stepped in quickly to calm everyone down.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Andrew Macwan told reporters that more than 50 people involved in the unrest have been detained. “We acted fast to bring the situation under control,” Macwan said. He added that two separate FIRs are now being filed, with injuries reported among both civilians and officers.
Police are keeping a close watch on Vadodara to prevent any more issues. Macwan assured the public that extra patrolling will continue across the city, especially with upcoming festivals like Navratri on the horizon. “Everyone should be able to celebrate peacefully,” he emphasized, urging people to ignore rumors spreading online. Authorities promise strict action against anyone stirring trouble.
This incident highlights growing concerns over inflammatory social media posts in India, but for now, Vadodara’s Gujarat Police have restored calm in the area.
