In Chandigarh on November 18, Haryana’s Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini took part in the fourth Nagar Kirtan Yatra that began in Sadhaura, a town in Yamunanagar district.
The CM performed a prayer ceremony (ardaas) at Gurdwara Diodi Sahib and urged citizens to spread the story of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh guru. He also announced that the state will give a Rs 31 lakh grant to the gurdwara from the CM’s discretionary funds.
Saini said that the Haryana government, together with the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, is organising a large‑scale tribute to the 350th anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom. “We want people to hear about his courage, sacrifice and devotion,” he added, calling the guru “the first great champion of human rights.”
The fourth Nagar Kirtan Yatra will travel across all of Haryana and finish in Kurukshetra on November 24. The next day, a big gathering (mahasamagam) will take place in Kurukshetra with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the chief guest.
The CM encouraged families to visit Kurukshetra and join this historic event. He highlighted that the Kartarpur Corridor, built under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, lets devotees reach the sacred gurdwara in Pakistan to pray.
Haryana’s government is also celebrating Guru Nanak Dev’s 550th birth anniversary and continuing to promote Sikh traditions and the sacrifices of all great Gurus.
