Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister M.K. Stalin took to social media on Saturday to slam the ruling BJP‑led Union government for what he says is political discrimination and a weakening of India’s federal system.
Stalin’s post came just one day after State Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu accused the centre of repeatedly withholding money that was earmarked for education, welfare and infrastructure projects in the state. Thennarasu’s remarks were aired during Assembly talks on the first round of supplementary grant demands.
Scrolling through Stalin’s X (formerly Twitter) feed, the CM did more than echo Thennarasu’s complaint. He asked a host of pointed questions that target the BJP across the country:
– “How do corrupt politicians become clean after joining the BJP alliance?”
– “Why are major national schemes and laws named only in Hindi and Sanskrit?”
Stalin accused the central government of using the Governor’s role in opposition‑ruled states to create confusion and block elected governments. He also slammed an alleged “Special Intensive Revision (SIR)” of electoral rolls, claiming it is a tool for BJP vote‑trading.
In addition, the CM questioned why the centre is reluctant to recognise Keeladi’s archaeological discoveries—findings that show iron production in Tamil Nadu two millennia ago—after a scientific review cleared the report.
Stalin ended his post with a challenge: would the Union answer these questions, or would it again resort to “false propaganda” flashed through WhatsApp?
These remarks are part of the DMK’s broader push to spotlight perceived centre‑state disparities and defend Tamil identity and the state’s autonomy within India’s federal framework.
