Stalin’s ‘Udanpirappe Vaa’ campaign gains momentum, CM warns DMK cadres in Nellai of consequences if seat lost

The DMK’s chief, M.K. Stalin, is ramping up a statewide drive called “Udanpirappe Vaa” – meaning “Come, My Sibling” – as he prepares for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The campaign, launched in Chennai, is meant to energise party workers, strengthen local leaders, and ensure tight coordination at every polling booth.

Thursday’s highlight was a meeting in Sankarankovil, a town in the Nellai constituency. Stalin gathered DMK functionaries, including MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi who oversees the party’s southern affairs. He delivered a blunt warning: the DMK must win Nellai in 2026, otherwise anyone in charge may lose their post. He urged cadres to stay united, stay alert, and build a united push for the seat.

“Udanpirappe Vaa” is a grassroots program that sees the chief meeting district secretaries and key executives one‑on‑one. It lets Stalin check how ready the party is and inject fresh accountability into the cadre. This hands‑on approach is the most extensive pre‑poll push the DMK has mounted yet.

Across Tamil Nadu, the election picture is taking shape. The two major Dravidian parties, the DMK and the AIADMK, have largely locked in their coalition plans. The DMK is expected to keep its 2024 partners, while the AIADMK, after breaking ties with the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections, has now decided to revive an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party. Other parties, such as the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) – still dealing with internal rifts between founder Dr S Ramadoss and leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss – and actor‑turned‑politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), are also eyeing potential alliances that could shape the upcoming polls.

As the election clock ticks down, Stalin’s “Udanpirappe Vaa” drive is seen as the DMK’s key scheme to strengthen its base, improve organisation, and build a clear path to victory in the 2026 Assembly elections.
