Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of the All India Majlis‑ul‑Muhammadi (AIMIM), told India Network () that his party is ready to stand for the nation whenever terror strikes. He highlighted how India reacted to the Pahalgam attack in Kashmir and praised the government’s swift Operation Sindoor, saying it was essential to keep Pakistan’s threats in check.
Owaisi also weighed in on the country’s past response to the 26/11 Mumbai bombings. He explained that strategy had changed since then and said the party would always act for the country, not for any individual office holder. “The BJP and the Prime Minister are not bigger than the nation,” he said, stressing that the AIMIM prioritises national security over party rivalry.
When asked about the AIMIM’s political ties, Owaisi made it clear he had no alliance with the BJP, although he would work with government ministers on practical matters such as textile subsidies. He said no decision had been taken to join forces with the Congress for upcoming elections, but that the party would keep its ideological stand.
The legislator slammed the U.S. decision to impose 50 % tariffs on Indian goods, arguing it had halted exports worth ₹35,000 crore. “The government must step in to protect our industries,” he said. Owaisi also criticized the lack of clarity from U.S. president Donald Trump’s peace plan on Gaza and called out the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, for alleged violations of international law. He urged that those responsible for alleged genocide be held accountable and warned that India’s praise of Israel was misplaced.
