Smriti Irani Praises PM Modi’s Focus on Women and Child Welfare
In a heartfelt message on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Irani highlighted how women empowerment and child protection form the core of his governance. Speaking at the CII Public Health Summit in New Delhi on September 17, she called the newly launched Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA) a special gift from the PM to the entire nation.
"On behalf of all Indians, I extend my warmest birthday wishes to PM Modi," Irani told reporters. She added that Modi has always prioritized these issues, right from his days as Gujarat Chief Minister to his role as India’s Prime Minister. "Today marks his birthday, yet he’s the one giving back to the country with this initiative. That’s classic PM Modi!"
The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan is a major push by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD). This women empowerment and child health initiative aims to boost healthcare access, improve service quality, and spread awareness for women and children across India. It’s all about Jan Bhagidaari, meaning it ropes in private hospitals and doctors to make healthcare more inclusive and reachable for everyone.
What makes this campaign stand out? It plans to roll out over one lakh health camps—the biggest ever outreach for women and child health in India. These camps will happen at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, and other spots. Expect focus on nutrition tips, health check-ups, and family wellness to keep everyone fit and strong.
This comprehensive health campaign, kicked off by PM Modi, will run until Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. It’s a timely step to strengthen India’s healthcare system, especially for vulnerable groups.
A quick look at PM Modi’s journey: Born on September 17, 1950, he joined the RSS officially in 1971 after early exposure to the organization. In 1985, he entered the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), climbing ranks to become General Secretary by 1998. He served as Gujarat CM from 2001 and took oath as India’s Prime Minister in 2014, leading the nation ever since.
