In New Delhi, over 1,500 NCC cadets from all across India gathered for a special 12-day Thal Sainik Camp, starting Tuesday. The group includes 867 boys and 679 girls representing 17 NCC Directorates from every state and union territory.
The camp was officially opened by Air Vice Marshal P.V.S. Narayana at Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment. This event focuses on building physical strength, sharp minds, and teamwork among young cadets. During the camp, participants will take part in exciting activities like Obstacle Training and Map Reading, helping them develop important skills in a fun and challenging environment.
The main goal of the Thal Sainik Camp is to give NCC cadets a taste of Army training. It encourages healthy competition while promoting discipline, leadership, and national unity. As a special national-level camp for Army Wing cadets, it plays a key role in shaping the character and confidence of young people.
Air Vice Marshal P.V.S. Narayana spoke about the unique opportunities NCC offers to youth—combining adventure, discipline, and pride. He emphasized that NCC helps young students develop leadership skills and build lasting friendships, preparing them for future challenges.
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a voluntary organization for school and college students. It provides basic military training in areas like arms, drills, and discipline. While cadets don’t have to serve actively in the military, the experience helps them grow into responsible and motivated individuals ready to serve the nation in any career.
NCC is a tri-services organization, involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force, with its headquarters in Delhi. It supports around 20 lakh cadets nationwide.
Recently, in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district, NCC cadets teamed up with 500 volunteers for disaster management training under the ‘Yuva Aapda Mitra’ scheme. This special training covers important topics such as earthquake safety, rescue operations, fire safety, flooding, lightning, first aid, and CPR. It aims to prepare youth to handle emergencies confidently and effectively, helping communities stay safe in times of crisis.
