In the heated world of Bihar politics, tensions boiled over as Janshakti Janata Dal founder Tej Pratap Yadav fired back at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Speaking to reporters in the Mahua Assembly constituency in Vaishali district, Tej Pratap demanded that police register a case against Nitish for what he called a derogatory remark aimed at RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
“Even as Chief Minister, he always resorts to abusive language against people,” Tej Pratap said. “He’s made nasty comments about women before. We want a case filed against Nitish Kumar right away—he’s lost his mind, and his time is up.” Tej Pratap slammed Nitish for setting a bad example for leaders everywhere, no matter the party. “Abusive words just don’t suit any politician in power,” he added.
The clash stems from Nitish’s comments the day before, during the launch of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, a new scheme to boost women’s employment in Bihar. There, Nitish referenced the 1990s political shift when Lalu Prasad Yadav stepped down as Chief Minister after seven years and handed the role to his wife, Rabri Devi. “After Lalu Prasad Yadav got removed as Chief Minister, he made his wife the Chief Minister of Bihar,” Nitish said at the event.
RJD supporters, including Tej Pratap, see this as a direct insult to their family. Tej Pratap went further, calling for “central action” against the Bihar CM to address the slight.
During his visit to Mahua, Tej Pratap didn’t hold back on local issues either. He targeted the sitting MLA, Mukesh Roshan, accusing him of total failure on development. To drive the point home, Tej Pratap picked up a loose piece of gravel from a crumbling road, showing just how rundown the area remains. “This MLA, Mukesh Roshan, is completely useless,” he declared. “He’s done zero development work here—these roads scream years of neglect.”
Tej Pratap claimed Roshan had pocketed funds meant for progress, leaving Mahua short on basic infrastructure and services. As a former RJD MLA from the same seat in 2015, Tej Pratap used the trip to rally voters. With Bihar’s 2025 Assembly elections on the horizon, he’s already declared his intent to run again from Mahua, ramping up the political buzz in the constituency.
